Glassitecture!
The architecture office I work for decided to take a day trip to see one of its buildings almost completed. It's located in a cluster of contemporary architectural office buildings in the city/country of Luxembourg. And it is, in fact, an office building for European Investment Bank (EIB). Everything was paid by the office, including transportation, food, and iced coffees from Starbucks - sorry Meeting Place, I had one, too - they were free. During the bus ride we could see the nice country-side but that's pretty much all we saw of Luxembourg. I made sure to bring a deck of cards with me and I taught a bunch of people some games. They're favorite game was Hearts, but unfortunately we didn't have time to play Hand and Foot. I don't think Germans have the patience for it anyway. A coworker from Russia taught us a popular Russian game. It was similar to Euchre but more complicated. The best part of the trip was after the site visit. We dined in a huge old mansion called Benberg Schloss somewhere outside of Cologne. It was really upscale and fancy, and that's when I noticed that everyone else was wearing nicer clothes than I was. We had name tags sitting on our tables, which made me think of our family dinners and Rachel's table arrangements. The food was pretty good, but not as good as mom's cooking, and not nearly as plentiful. Anyway, I posted a bunch of pictures of the building so you have an idea how much money you'll need to hire me as an architect.

So exciting!!! You will LOVE Edinburgh, I wish I could go there again. Make sure to go to the castle at the top of the hill, and ride the carousel in the park at the bottom of the hill and think about your siste riding that same carousel 12 years ago.
And Vienna - make sure to go to a hill and twirl around and sing "The hills are alive..." Ok, I can't really expect you to do that, but that's what I would do.
love and miss you!
Oh, and I think it's awesome that you're teaching everyone those card tricks... sounds like you're really being a natural leader, which I know you are. OK, I'll stop embarrassing you now.
I'm still in shock that there apparently exists a game more complicated than euchre, the official Game of Endless Tedium.
I just enjoyed Rachel's place cards last night. Wish you'd been there!
pah! i spit on your fees. i have an idea for an expansion for our house. i will trade you some of my endless wisdom, advice, or philosophy for some architecturing.
